There is something wrong with a man who fails to see any error in his ways after being given countless examples of its unquestioned existence. The most stubborn of men will eventually adapt a more effective line of attack to avoid another failure. It takes a special breed of human to truly seek comfort in failure. To create victory out of defeat. It takes an even more gifted and special man to be able to convince others that his failures are beneficial to them. Unfortunately, I’m not referring to the advertising industry that has done their best to inflate the demand for the Chevy Volt. They were only fulfilling the requirements of a customer. No, I’m referring of course to His Barackness. Our current President of the United States. Yes, ladies and gents…..there is something wrong with President Barack Hussein Obama. (Please take your time in picking your collective jaws up off the floor.)

All kidding aside, I firmly believe that Barack Obama suffers from Antisocial Personality Disorder and will eloquently and factually outline my case for such a statement in the coming paragraphs. For those who view such a statement as blasphemy against your liberal god, this is probably as good a point as any for us to part ways. Good luck to you.

The staff at Psych Central, the Internet’s largest and oldest independent mental health and psychology network, has put together a nice list of the common signs of antisocial personality disorder, but the chilling part is to see how perfectly the signs describe the man currently sitting in the Oval Office. Here’s a few of the signs and a factual example of how it could be used to describe President Obama.

• Antisocial Personality Disorder is usually characterized by a long-standing pattern of disregard for other people’s rights, often crossing the line and violating those rights.
  • Despite what he says in public or through his minions, Obama’s signature legislation, which many of us believe will be ruled unconstitutional at some point in the next few months, is a stunning example. The Individual Mandate is a pretty clear sign of a man who holds absolutely no regard for the rights of the individual in this country. He clearly believes that we are too stupid to go on living without his supreme guidance.
• Lacks empathy – Does anyone out there really believe that Barack Obama could relate to you on a personal level? Honestly? He has gone to great lengths to make us believe that he and Michelle are “just like us” but the truth is that Obama sees our world and our needs and our struggles as somehow beneath him. Barack Obama couldn’t relate to the people of this country on a personal level any more than Clay Aiken could relate to Mike Tyson.
• Contemptuous of feelings of others – The Contraception Mandate is yet another piercing scream for help from the very fabric of our country. Obama has taken thousands of years of Faith and demanded that we abandon it in favor of his own beliefs. When we refused, he countered with a fictitious “War On Women” and an equally fictitious Sandra Fluke.
• Inflated and arrogant self appraisal – While some of this may not be the fault of President Obama and more a result of the insulated environment in which the Office of President must be placed, Obama’s arrogance seems to be particularly expanded. This symptom is also highlighted within the infamous Contraception Mandate.
• Sufferers of Antisocial Personality Disorder lack a realistic concern about their current problems or the future – While Obama’s insulated environment is certainly a contributing factor, it’s not the only contributor. Obama’s arrogance and adherence to proven failure would indicate that his own mind is to blame for many of the problems to which his administration has exposed America.
• Sufferers may be excessively opinionated, self-assured, or even cocky. Need I say more? Have you ever seen a man that better fit this description than Barack Hussein Obama? I personally don’t believe such a man exists.
• May display a glib, superficial charm. Again, does this not describe Obama to a tee?

While President Obama certainly falls under the description of several signs of this disorder, the question remains as to whether any actual symptoms can be found in our President. The answer is a resounding “YES!”

1. Failure to Conform to Social Norms – Obama seems to derive some sort of a thrill from disobeying the law. Not just the written laws in the United States Constitution, but any kind of law, tradition, authority, or opinion that he thinks will force him to contradict to his own ideology. It’s a rush or a high to him.
2. Deceitfulness – Do I really have to lay out a list here? The guy is a slimy, lawyer-politician-celebrity. He will do anything and say anything to keep himself in power.
   1. Signs of this symptom often include the use of aliases:
      1. Barack Hussein Obama has used the names Harrison J Bounel and Barry Soetoro that we know of. Why? That answer has never been answered. Probably because no one in the news has asked it! (Seriously, do a Google Search of either name. It’s creepy!)
   2. The Buffett Rule – Just today, Obama is out there touting the plight of Warren Buffett’s poor old secretary who pays more in taxes than the billionaire. Notably absent from his speech was any mention of the fact that Buffett is in the middle of an EPIC lawsuit over taxes he has failed to pay in the past. To the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars. President Obama either knows about the ongoing lawsuit and is choosing to intentionally mislead us with mention of Buffett’s  name, or he’s blatantly incompetent.
   3. Consistently “Adjusted” Unemployment Numbers – Every month, Obama’s approval numbers avoid total collapse by leaking the truth about the economy to us gradually. The numbers are always “adjusted” or taken from a different “perspective” than used in the past. It’s intentionally confusing,
3. Impulsivity – A failure to plan ahead.
   1. Could there be a better way to describe Obama’s Presidency? Since ObamaCare will most likely not be around for him to hang the hat of his legacy on, what about the premature withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan and the infamous Quran apology? Despite the catastrophic damage this move has delivered to our reputation in the region, it has also left us with very little presence to deal with lunacy in the adjacent countries. We didn’t pull completely out of Germany and it provided a nice, visible, warning sign to Mother Russia. We didn’t withdraw completely from Japan and we have yet to be attacked by China. Why is Obama’s wisdom superior to that of history?
   2. Green Energy Investments – Depending on the day, Obama will be out on the campaign trail inflating the tires of a different lie about the bastard children of he and Energy Secretary Chu. So far, almost everything they’ve touched has turned to bankrupt crap. On a bright side, the executives of these taxpayer funded nightmares are still receiving nice, big bonus checks.
4. Irritability and Aggressiveness – I’m willing to bet that Michelle has had to clean up after more than one Barack-ian temper tantrum in her day.
5. Reckless Disregard For the Safety of Self or Others – The man demanded the Chevy Volt. Need I say more? He swears that he’s going to buy one of these mobile crematoriums as soon as he’s “unelected” and that’s a clear example of his disregard for his own safety as well as that of his family. In al seriousness, many of his demands have been met prior to any real testing or research. Companies have gotten caught up in the charm and power. They have delivered under pressure what should have been tested and proven. What about Fast and Furious? Why would Obama defend Eric Holder and the operation that ended the life of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry? Lack of empathy? Disregard for the safety, feelings, and emotions of others? Others he sees as political “enemies.”
6. Consistent Irresponsibility - “Indicated by repeated failure to sustain consistent work behavior or honor financial obligations.”  Anybody care to guess how many vacations Obama has taken since he took office? Your guess would be as good as any since no real number can be found but in the last month I have read reports of the Obama women in Mexico, Vail, and now Vegas. The Obamas have taken numerous trips to Hawaii and justify the $10M of public funds Michelle Obama is accused of spending on top-shelf Vodkas and expensive massages by citing George W Bush’s trips to his ranch in Crawford, Texas. Also, why is Obama not more upset with his democratic counterparts in Congress and the fact that they have yet to pass a budget under his rule?
7. Lack of Remorse - “As indicated by being indifferent to or rationalizing having hurt, mistreated, or stolen from another.” (Statement will stand on it’s own merit.)

Indeed there is something wrong with President Obama. The likelihood of him ever seeking the advice of a licensed medical professional for the disorder that consumes him is  about as likely as me throwing the winning strike for my World Series Champion Saint Louis Cardinals against the Florida Marlins on Wednesday, but I guess anything could happen. Should I loosen up my throwing arm in case Obama gives us a miracle? Nah, I’ll just continue getting old!

In Defense of Cowards….

I know this is a bit of a dated reference, but think back to the movie A Few Good Men with Tom “Starship-Crazy” Cruise and Jack Nicholson. Aside from the obvious problems that would be present in a reality where Jack Nicholson was in charge of Gitmo, the movie does bear a striking resemblance to the world in which we now find ourselves. Remember how scared the two Marines standing trial became when they were forced to accept the fact that those who outranked them were far less loyal to the Corps and it’s principals than they were? They were terrified, yet they still acted in accordance with the laws of “their corps.”

That’s a loyalty and a bond that only those who have served will ever truly understand and even many of those simply enjoy it without understanding. The actors who played the roles of the two Marines in the film were allowed to go home and enjoy the fruits of their terrific performances. The five soldiers who were recently discovered to have been involved in the accidental burning of Qurans in Afghanistan are not afforded such luxuries. Reuters reports that senior clerics in Afghanistan, speaking in statements made via Afghan President Hamid Karzai’s office, have said that “U.S. apologies will never be accepted. Those who committed this crime must be publicly tried and punished.” Now, I don’t know about you, but I just have a really hard time imagining our boys getting any form of “innocent until proven guilty” in an Afghan courtroom. Does that make me racist? I don’t really care any more.

Can you imagine being one of the five soldiers involved? You’ve seen the spotty videos of the throbbing crowds all over the dusty, dirty, primitive country….imagine being the one they are all mad at. Really try to picture the emotions you would be going through today. Luckily, our military has trained away a lot of the fears a normal American would be feeling, but do you honestly believe that you would be courageously confident if your feet were stuffed into the dusty, worn combat boots of one of those five soldiers? I think even great writers like Thor, Baldacci, and Flynn would have a tough time guiding their famed characters through the maze of the fear that must be going through the minds of those soldiers. They hear the throngs of rioters outside the gates of their bases. They see the increased level of alert on the faces of their brothers. They hear the reports of soldiers dying as a result of their unintentional actions but they don’t get any reprieve. Can you imagine being in their shoes? Now, can you imagine being in their shoes and believing that the executive level of United States Government cares about you? The libs will say that I’m just being hateful, or racist, or unfair, or a right-wing nutjob, or any of the other clever names they throw at us to avoid discussing anything that makes the Immaculated One look bad but the fact is that they are defending Barack Hussein Obama from the comfort of their climate controlled homes, in the safety of their own familiar geography, with a significantly fewer number of rioting Muslims outside the borders of their neighborhoods. Those who say Barack Obama was right to apologize are simply wrong. Obama’s apology has fueled the mobs. His apology has emboldened the Muslim world and they now believe that we will just hand over our soldiers to be tried in their primitive, hateful, version of justice. This cannot be allowed to happen.

For too long our military has been asked to carry out the missions politics won’t permit. Obama is the commander of the military yet when their actions offend, or in some way hurt those who support campaign, he can’t distance himself fast enough. Our military deserves better. Our military deserves leaders who suffer right alongside them and look for solutions that keep America first, not poll numbers. I’m assuming that the soldiers receiving the brunt of the backlash for this accident are not above the rank of  Lieutenant. They are most likely E-4’s or lower. At that pay-grade, in an already hostile environment, orders are not questioned. Orders are followed regardless of how it may look. A commanding officer tells you to incinerate a pile of books, you don’t look through the pile of books and take out the ones you think might be in there by mistake! Should the Qurans have been spared? Sure. Should the prisoners at Parwan Detention Facility be allowed to use the Qurans provided to them by US Taxpayers to communicate their handwritten extremist messages but then cry foul when someone else desecrates it? I for one could not be more sick of hearing about our soldiers dying in the name of protecting Muslim sensitivities. I’m willing to bet there were a few Bibles burned in the World Trade Center. Anybody ever apologize to us for that? Had there been a pile of Bibles on any of the planes used in the cowardly acts of September 11, 2001; would they have landed the planes out of respect for Christianity?

We discuss politics and poll numbers while our soldiers stare down the enemy wondering if they will be forced to pull their trigger. We enact laws that support the needs of the most vocal and well represented - soldiers defend our right to do so. We worry about the price of gas while they sleep in a hole in the dirt. We stand silently by as our President apologizes before an investigation has even concluded. We apologize for accidentally burning a pile of discarded rubbish seized from prisoners, yet our soldiers are forced to standby and watch as the American Flag is burned daily. I understand that the Quran is their Holy Book, but as liberals love to point out, the United States is NOT a Church-state. In our country, the flag is just as important as the Quran is to them. Especially among the military. I have absolutely zero respect for our current President but I will get down on a knee and pray to the one true God that Barack Hussein Obama respects the military enough to fight tooth and nail to avoid an Afghan trial. Any of those five soldiers would take a bullet to protect the President. Not to protect Barack Hussein Obama,  but to protect the United States President. There’s a BIG difference. It’s a difference that those soldiers most assuredly understand but one that seems to elude the logic of Papa Barry.

If you were stuck behind those walls, would you feel confident that Barack Obama cares more about you than his own campaign? Honestly? Our military deserves better. Our military deserves the respect of their President and their country; not disdain and abandonment in the face of political pressure. Our military deserves the same humble integrity from those they protect as they demand of themselves. Our military deserves a President who sheds tears over the names of each and every fallen soldier, not one that recites their numbers only when it adds impact to a speech.

Let Go Of My Country….

In Monday’s article we looked at what is really necessary to correct the course on which our country is now travelling. The needs go far beyond the 2012 Presidential Election and politics in general. The Election is just the first game of the season, but there are a lot more to go.

In the fall of 1991, Coach William Randolph of Fishburne Military School stood in the stagnant air of the visitor’s locker room at Randolph Macon Military Academy in Central Virginia. His anxious team huddled around him, most seated. His face was visibly agitated as he stumbled for the words to launch them out into competition. The entire team was well aware of the fact that it had been a long, long time since Fishburne had tasted victory against that day’s opponent. His face reddened as he began to speak. “Today is their Homecoming Day. They invited us here to play them on their Homecoming Day. Do you gentlemen have any idea what that means?” The veins in his neck were now at a distractingly visible bulge. “They invited us here because they thought we would make a nice starter to the festivities of their weekend! They thought we would just lay down and let them march victoriously off to their Homecoming Dinner with a big smile on their face! Well guess what, men….dinner is about to get up off the table and gnaw on their throats! We are NO ONE’s scheduled victory! We are NO ONE’s commencement ceremony! They can have their party, but the mood will be somber. Their bodies will be bruised. Victory will be absent.” 

Randolph Macon was soundly defeated that day, and Fishburne went on to win the Conference Championship that season. Coach Randolph’s screaming, spitting words still ring out in my ears whenever I need motivation. It wasn’t just the words that inspired the team that day, it was the passion behind them. It was the level of emotion his words were able to inspire in us that ultimately delivered victory. (After the game, we were able to laugh about the fact that Coach Randolph was the only injury of that game. He punched a tree at half-time to motivate us. Laughter is often very motivating!) The point of the story is that we are a country in desperate need need of motivation. We need someone who believes in us and is willing to fight alongside us as we battle a formidable opponent. Now, it would be easy to assume that America is the team and the President is our coach in this little metaphor. That’s how we’ve been programmed. Switch it. No longer do we take our orders from our elected officials. We’re here to take back what a corrupt and incredulous government has taken from us. Like we said yesterday, jerk the wheel to the right before we Sheen ourselves over a cliff! Determine our own course of action and demand nothing less than absolute adherence by our elected officials.

they were saints. Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, and Airmen die following orders of protected men yet our very own Supreme Court can’t protect their funerals from disgusting protest. It’s time to fight for your family. Their attacks on family have not gone unnoticed. It’s time to fight for our children. Even if you don’t have kids, it’s time to step up and help those of us who do to tell the United States Government that they not know better than parents. Not on any subject. We will decide what’s best for our kids and for them to believe there is another option speaks volumes as to the level of arrogance found in our common enemy.  They have their anointed deity at the core of their arrogance. Most of Barack Hussein Obama’s support comes in the form of those blindly loyal to party or skin-color. We must be louder. We must broadcast his record nonstop, but our focus must be on the years after his presidency. Liberal virus has infected this country and it is time to vaccinate.

Because I pray, I’m a zealot. Because I pray to God, I’m intolerant. Because I oppose abortion, I hate women and their bodies. Because I don’t believe that a latte sipping, tent dwelling, participation trophy shining, moron deserves the same income as a CEO, I’m a fat-cat. Because I’m from Texas, I’m a redneck. Because I believe we all owe a huge debt of gratitude to anyone who has ever worn the uniform of the United States Military, I’m a right-wing nut. Because I believe marriage should be defined as a union capable of creating life, I’m a bigot. Because I think Barack Hussein Obama is an absolutely horrendous stain on the integrity of this great country, I'm a racist.  Enough! All they have is words. They have their voice, and we have allowed it to grow quite loud, but it is still just words. We allow their opinions of what is popular to influence our judgment. Remember just a few years ago when speaking ill of God or His Word was considered ratings suicide. It was akin to repeatedly using the “N-Word” on Prime Time TV. It wasn’t allowed. Can anyone tell me when it became okay to openly mock the teachings of the Bible? I’m not suggesting that every show recite scripture and every actress wear a turtleneck. So, help me….if Megyn Kelly shows up in a turtleneck tomorrow, I’m destroying my satellite dish! All I’m demanding is that we take the moral compass out of the box in the attic, dust it off, and take a gander at it. I’m not asking that all teachers be fired and every parent be given permission to educate their own children. I’m demanding that union interests be ignored entirely. I’m asking for the choice to have my tax dollars support a school my child attends by choice and aptitude rather than one the government chooses for me.

Get up! Demand the changes you want to see. Enlighten those who have veered too far to the left. The fight is tough but you are not alone. The temptations are almost irresistible but together we can strip them of their power. Demand better. Not just in your president, or your Congressman, or your actors, singers, authors, teachers, lawyers, bankers, athletes, and neighbors; but demand better from yourself. They have exposed our weaknesses, but they have in turn left themselves exposed. Attack and defeat. Now.

In a prayer before the Kansas House of Representatives in 1996, Pastor Joe Wright of Wichita, Kansas said:

“Heavenly Father…..we come before you today and pray your forgiveness and seek your direction and guidance. We know your Word says ‘woe to those who call evil good’ but that’s exactly what we’ve done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and inverted our values. We confess that we have ridiculed the absolute truth of your word and called it moral pluralism. We have worshipped other gods and called it multiculturalism. We have endorsed perversion and called it an alternative lifestyle. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have neglected the needy and called it self preservation. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justified. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building esteem. We have abused power and called it political savvy. We have coveted our neighbor’s possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.”

Go ahead…..bring on the “extremist” nonsense, lefties! We’re done playing by your rules, listening to your values, and we are most assuredly done welcoming your invasions.

First of all, I would like to take the time to personally thank each and every one of you that read Friday’s article. Even you nutjobs on the left who, for some unknown reason, keep coming back for more. Go Home Mr. President set a readership record for my site and no matter which side of the battle you may hail from, I appreciate the support. That being said, I think the article was widely misunderstood. From my fellow conservatives I received a lot of responses containing more evidence that Barack Hussein Obama should not have been allowed to run for President in the first place. From the left, I received exactly what you would expect. I received over seven-hundred comments, e-mails, and other various messages containing entertaining yet disturbing rhetoric. My sexual orientation was questioned as was my appetite, my mother, and my level of education but not a single answer was given. On an absurdly humorous note, one “brave” Occupy protester actually asked me to make a donation to him so that he could brave the winter in Wisconsin in his tent! Good luck, filthcicle! The little golden man atop your participation trophy is shivering, perhaps it’s time to abandon your ridiculous cause.

I personally don’t care where Barack Obama was born. That was not the question I posed on Friday and it’s not the question that remains unanswered. Why him? Why Barack Hussein Obama? He has done absolutely nothing to warrant the affection given to him yet the Obamanites would rather die than to admit he is in over his smug, condescending head. Here’s what we know about the upward mobility of His Barackness.

Barack and Michelle Obama “Voluntarily Surrendered” their licenses to practice law.	Barack has said time and time again that he surrendered his license in order to focus on his political ambitions, namely his run at the presidency. Now, I know that Presidents are forbidden to hold any personal assets over a certain figure while in office. I’m sure there are many other personal freedoms we take for granted, not permitted to the most powerful man on the planet. However, the voluntary surrender of a license to practice law is not one of them. In fact, Bill Clinton kept his license until he was forced to ‘voluntarily surrender’ it before being disbarred over comments he made during the Whitewater investigations. Michelle Obama voluntarily surrendered her law license in 1993, just three years after she got it. Imagine racking up tons of debt, spending nearly a decade in school, passing the bar exam, and then just giving it up in three years. It doesn’t make sense. Obama surrendered his license in 2008 in what many believe was an escape from investigation into the authenticity of his bar application. That makes more sense than “I just don’t think I’ll need it again.” You surrender your license to avoid investigation. Why were they being investigated?
Barack Obama was a Professor of Law at the University of Chicago	Nope. Not even close. Obama, once a “lecturer” at Harvard Law applied to be an adjunct at Chicago Law but his application was never even considered. Through political power and what was no doubt some Occupy Wall Street style whining, he was given a class to “lecture” and was placed on the payroll in a non-faculty position. Not only was he never a professor, he was barely an adjunct. He was disliked as his position seemed drenched in dirty politics. He never attended faculty meetings and seemed to view this lowly position as a stepping stone in his ambitious career path. Besides, lawyers write. It seems for most of them, that’s all they do. Go onto any lawyer’s website and you will see tons of things that they've written. Lawyers get published. Publishing credits are like sex to lawyers. It would stand to reason that anyone teaching about practicing law would have at least a few things published. Anybody ever see any of it?
Obama has no ties to terrorist Bill Ayers, radical Jeremiah Wright, or any other unpopular figure.	Ridiculously untrue. Ayers and Obama served together at the Chicago Annenberg Challenge from 1995 until 2000. Ayers founded the group which touted itself as an “education reform” program. That’s like saying a bomb is a “structural reform” mechanism.  The group raised and distributed money to established, leftist causes. Obama’s sudden disdain for “Pastor” Jeremiah Wright is laughable. The man presided over the wedding of Barry and Michelle. He baptized both Obama daughters. The hate spewing, separatist, former leader of the Chicago mega-church Obama attended for years had a definite role in the spiritual construction of Barack Hussein Obama.
Obama was the clear choice of the people of Illinois in his bid for the 2004 senate seat.	Well, okay…..but let’s put it in perspective for those on the left with the amazing ability to re-write history. Yes, Obama won big but only after running an absurdly dirty campaign against Republican Jack Ryan. Jack Ryan, as is the case with most politicians it seems, was into some pretty kinky stuff when married to beautiful actress Jeri Ryan. The details of the sordid sexual activities were listed in their divorce papers which Obama and his camp demanded be released into the public. When Ryan dropped his bid, out-of-stater Alan Keyes was placed on the ballot in his place. Did Obama really win that election or did he simply represent the only option? After all, His Barackness barely made a dent in his previous House of Representatives campaign.
Barack Obama did not have a radical voting record as a United States Senator.	36 times during his short, uneventful, senatorial career did Barack Obama vote “present.” More than 50 times, his votes were simply the vote of his party or part of some other campaign. Once voted “present” as a “show of opposition” to a bill that would have allowed children as young as 15 to be tried as adults if they committed crimes with a firearm on or near school grounds. The bill passed overwhelmingly but Obama didn’t believe tougher penalties were the answer. Yeah? Put your daughters in an inner-city, Chicago public school and tell us how you feel. Barack Obama also voted against providing medical care to a fetus that who survived an abortion procedure. That’s about as hardcore left-wing as you can possibly get unless you get a CEO to pay for your abortion because he’s “too successful.” Obama was also voted “The Most Liberal Senator in the United States” by National Journal in 2007.
Obama was a focused Senator.	No. He was not. It is widely believed that he began his presidential campaign before he knew his way through the maze of corridors on Capitol Hill.
Obama was experienced enough to beat Hillary Clinton in the Democratic Primaries in 2004.	Again, no he was not. He capitalized on the disdain America was feeling for the War in Iraq. He never missed an opportunity to point out the fact that Hillary “Ankles” Clinton voted for the ‘unconstitutional invasion’ whereas he was one of the first and loudest to oppose it. The fact that his opposition came in the form of maniacal hate-speech full of illogical and terrifying rhetoric seemed to escape his braggadocio.
Those who question Barack Hussein Obama’s birth certificate, known as “birthers” in the enlightened world, are ignorant.	No, those who obsess over it may be, but those who question it are not. I questioned the legitimacy of Bush’s 2000 election victory until the Supreme Court ruled, after hearing sufficient evidence, that he was the winner. No such rulings have been made on the issue of Obama’s birth and no such evidence has been heard. I questioned Bush’s military biography until it was ruled that Dan Rather had lost his mind and fabricated most of the evidence to which the left was clinging. Why have experts not been brought forth to put this whole thing to rest? (Okay, I may be ‘mis-remembering’ a few of those facts, but you get my point.) Why?
Obama’s economic blueprint and “fair share” philosophies will work if given enough time.	No they will not and he has been given plenty of time. The fact that he delivers a State of the Union Address in which he declares he will be investing more of our money into the Lithium/Ion Battery industry is a clear example of the fact he has lost touch with the reality of the United States. Another ‘clean energy battery’ company to which Barack Obama gave $118 million of our money filed for bankruptcy the following day and he vows to give more.

 

Now, while all the responses I got to Friday’s article were entertaining, I’m still left without an answer. I will gladly publish and give credit to the first person who can adequately explain to me why there has been such an inexplicably condensed journey to power for a man who has done absolutely nothing to deserve such support. Barack Obama has all the markings of a “plant” but he doesn’t seem to know it. Is the man a cyborg? If he pulls back his face, is there a series of circuit boards and wires? Can someone please explain to me why Barack Hussein Obama has been given the support he has been given? It’s not because of his skin color, there are plenty of black candidates the left could have chosen to spike into the White House. Why such blind loyalty? The only unifying bond among die-hard leftists seems to be the tired, tattered flag of their “anyone but Bush” mantra. The problem is that no one is asking why they voted for him in 2008. We’re asking why any thinking person with logic and facts at their disposal would choose to vote for a man who has all but decimated our Constitution, thrown our economy in the tank below a Tijuana Port-A-Potty, and increased our debt at a pace that melts calculators? Why this particular man?

Obama is a charming man. We know the guy can deliver a speech and win a crowd, so where are his ex-girlfriends? Where are the people from his past that seem to pop-up out of the woodwork no matter how irrelevant the celebrity? Can you imagine the level of dirt that would have been dug up on JFK today, in an age where information is old before it even occurs? Obama couldn’t have possibly gone through life without making at least one girlfriend mad. Where are the classmates, the enemies, the publications, the records? When Bush was running for President, it seemed the news managed to dig up every single person he’d ever shook hands with. Why can’t they seem to find anyone from Obama’s past?

Again, I could care less where Barack Hussein Obama was born. I’m more interested in why he has been given such a short and seemingly “appointed” path to the White House? Why did Hillary bow down and ole him to the nomination? I don’t care what you think of my mother, my job, my sexual orientation, my level of education, my spelling, my wife, my home, my opinions, or my fashion sense. I want someone from the left to honestly explain to me why Barack Obama was given the Democratic Nomination after just eight years and zero accomplishments in the senate? I want someone to logically and factually explain to me why failure is so blindly supported as success?

Something tells me I will not be publishing any articles of explanation any time soon.

Wow! Didn’t that crazy little man from Austria just accurately describe the actions of someone in power today? Before you liberal whackos start sending me hate mail saying that I compared Barack Hussein Obama to Hitler, I didn’t. Save your breath and keystrokes. I compared Obama’s actions to those described in Hitler’s quote. It’s an accurate comparison, I looked it up. Now, stop reading my articles…..they’re not meant for you!

The liberal friendly media is going to make sure you know everything there is to know about Bain Capital over the next several months. Unfortunately, the spin they will put on their descriptions of this firm are jaded and manipulative to say the least. Here are a few facts to keep in mind throughout the initial volley. If we refuse to let their negative attempts take root, the issue will quickly die.

Mitt Romney was hired by Bain & Company as a consultant but would later serve as their CEO. He pulled the firm from the brink of disaster and, once the parent firm had reached a self sustaining level of profit, started a spinoff firm known as Bain Capital. He took that small startup and made it one of the largest firms of it’s kind in a terribly short period of time. Yes, some people lost their jobs. Sadly, that’s the way it goes sometimes. When a company is facing obliteration and someone decides to turn things around, blame is often identified and laziness ushered out the door. There will always be people who object to change simply because they don’t want to work any harder. They haven’t bought into the overall mission. They believe the status quo should remain unchanged despite negative results. Those people are usually fired. (Hint, hint, Barackula!!) The termination of employees who, in one way or another, negatively impacted the forward mission of the company were let go. It’s sad, yes; but it does not mean that Mitt Romney is bad for jobs. In fact, lets take a look at a few real numbers being skillfully avoided in all negative reports about the current GOP front-runner.

Obama brags about adding 200,000 jobs to the Labor Force in December. Nice try genius, but most of that was temporary Holiday help. Did anyone go to the mall the week before Christmas? How about Best Buy? Did it seem like there were quite a few unfamiliar faces? Do you think they’re still there? No, they were temporary help for a temporary surge in consumer volume. The people who buy into those numbers as a win for His Obamanency will soon be crushed when January’s numbers show a drop of about 200,000 jobs. Obama is facing voters with the highest unemployment rate of any sitting president since World War II, yet he brags and manipulates. He uses “clever and constant application of propaganda” (sound familiar?) to make us believe that he’s turning things around when all he’s actually doing is lying creatively. With an average unemployment rate of 8.9% in 2011 Obama brags about adding a few hundred thousand jobs as if all problems are facing extinction. There were approximately 13,839,500 people out of work last year but thanks to the valiant and tireless efforts of our SHOTUS (Super Hero Of The United States…..”In” the United States would make a more fitting acronym!) we have seen that number drop to what we’re told is a MUCH better 13,639,500…..for a month. Thanks, your immanency. (By the way: I will continue to state the 2011 unemployment average as closer to 9.1% until someone can tell me why the eligible labor force inexplicably added 1 million people in September and October of 2011. Don’t say it was for Holidays because they were subtracted in November!)

Romney, on the other hand, took a startup company and propelled it to dominance in just a few years. Yes, he made himself a LOT of money along the way. In the industry in which he was thriving, income is the truest measure of success. Instead of painting him as a greedy fat-cat, why don’t we look at the fact that he succeeded in one of the toughest, most fiercely competitive industries on the planet. 

The media will do everything in their power to make you believe that Romney was a “draft dodger” during the Vietnam War. This too is categorically false. Please understand that Romney came from a very powerful, wealthy, and politically connected family. The left will have you believe that makes him evil, but let me ask you this….do you believe that Brad and Angelina’s children would be drafted into a military draft today or would they be given some kind of deferment? Would Bill Gates’ kids be shipped off to war? If you answered yes to either, you should stop reading here. You’re delusional. Still, Romney honored his obligation to the Mormon Church and had remarkable success in getting wine loving Frenchmen to convert to a religion that forbids alcohol. He was quickly promoted to Assistant to the Mission President in Paris, the highest position attainable by a missionary. In 1968, a car Romney was driving was struck by another car. Romney was not at fault but the crash killed the wife of the Mission President and rocked the entire mission. Disorganization and insurmountable grief throughout the mission launched Romney into the position of Co-President. He rallied the troops and they achieved 200 baptisms that year, more than any other year in over a decade. While stationed in France, Mitt Romney continued his defense of the United States presence in Vietnam in the face of French hippies. Can you imagine anything less attractive?

On the other hand, we have the man accusing Romney of being a draft dodger. Can someone please explain to me why Obama feels he has the right to question anybody’s service record with regard to the United States Military? Of course, Obama would never be so careless as to say anything himself, he just instructs his fleet of Wasserman-Schultz’s to spread the word.

While Barack Hussein Obama and his little media disciples may try to get in your head with their twisted facts and imagined numbers, please look at the track  records. Romney has had success wherever he’s gone it seems. His life has been one of determination and integrity. His overhyped opponent has led a life of mystery and unexplained gaps. Obama bypasses the Constitution of the United States to force his ideology down our throats despite proven failure. Please be smart enough to fend off any of the maniacal attacks that are sure to come Romney’s way in the upcoming weeks.

Now, for all you fervent Ron Paul supporters……when your man is the frontrunner, I’ll do a comparison of him and Obama. I’m sure he’ll come out ahead too, but right now, he’s in third. Settle down and stop demanding that I give him undue attention. If his time comes, I will give him an equal amount of research .

Christmas Series 2011 (Part 3)

I love Christmas. Christmas, like no other time on the calendar, is a celebration of faith. Christmas brings out the child in even the most rigid of men. Strangers seem a little more familiar when they display evidence of a mutual belief. Christmas provides clear proof of this fact. The disgustingly rude blob that works behind the counter at the local convenience store displays an “It’s all about CHRISTmas” button on his shirt yesterday and suddenly he’s a little less revolting. The genuinely pleasant guy at Starbuck’s with the giant bolt in his face and those lovely, see-through earlobes says “Merry Christmas” with a smile on his face and suddenly he seems like a teammate. I have no idea if these men will celebrate the season with any similarities whatsoever to the festivities and traditions of my own home, but Christmas is the one time of year that allows me to believe they will. We’re bred at an early age to behold the majestic beauty of the Christmas spirit. Santa is one of the first real examples of faith a human being will ever know.

Santa, especially to a 7-12 year old kid, is the ultimate test in faith. At that age, the understanding of the most important kind of faith is limited at best, and conversations are pretty minimal. Santa, however, is easily understood. The physics of chimney accessibility, global travel, and quadruped aviation are irrelevant. As an adult, faith is even more unfathomable when God is the recipient of our belief. On almost a daily basis, we are asked to defend our faith in a God that can’t be seen. We are forced to humbly accept the ridicule from the progressive enlightened bunch. Our faith is twisted and manipulated to support certain causes for which it should never be asked to represent. Through it all, we have faith. We have faith and we have peace. It’s that peace that allows us to smile at the grossly arrogant doubt that oozes from nonbelievers. True magic occurs when someone with adamant faith in both God and Santa is found.

Kids understand their belief in Santa. It can’t be questioned. The fact that they have never seen him delivering the presents doesn’t even make a dent in the encasing armor of their faith. Why is it then that adults sometimes seem to stumble when pressed about their faith in God? Why is it that questioning someone about their belief in God can be done from a platform of assumed superiority but to question a child about their belief in Santa with a condescending tone will bring about a public beating? Why are the two not regarded with the same respect? Christmas has become more of a statement than a celebration. It’s become more about defiance than joy; on both sides of the argument. Those of us who accept that our best Christmas gift was delivered to a manger in Bethlehem feel that we must remain defiant in the face of opposition. Our public celebration of Our Savior’s birth is our signature on the enlistment papers. Those who feel that Christmas and all of it’s faith is something beneath their level of intelligence should not be allowed to celebrate the tangible, earthly benefits of Jesus’ Birthday Party as they mock it’s true origin yet their defiant opposition seems to be their battle cry. Those who worship another, less “fact-based” God…..well…..what the heck are you doing reading this article?!?! Belief in Santa, however, is encouraged in kids born into both sides of the argument. All of us would absolutely welcome the discovery of Santa’s Workshop. If your favorite TV show was interrupted with news that everything you ever heard about Santa Claus was just proven to be true, you would cry with joy. You would be free to be a kid again. You’re smiling right now just thinking about it, aren’t you? I sure am!

We believe that Santa lives at the North Pole, but we can’t believe that Jesus lives everywhere? We believe in Santa’s magical flying sleigh, but we can’t believe that Jesus walked on water? Santa brings joy once every year and we look forward to his visit with eager anticipation yet we shun Jesus’ constant presence and guidance. Santa slithers down your chimney, uninvited, in the middle of the night; eats your cookies and possibly takes pictures of you while you’re sleeping. Kind of creepy, right? Jesus, however is more of a gentleman. He knocks at your door and waits patiently for your invitation to enter. You have to wait in long lines at the mall to see a Santa that smells like old Mac n’ Cheese and paint thinner but a conversation with Jesus only requires the mention of His name. We believe that Santa leaves gifts under our tree and under the trees of every other kid on earth but we can’t accept that God gave us the gift of Jesus? We haven’t ever seen Santa yet our faith remains. God can be seen everywhere if He is truly sought. God can be seen in happy times just like Santa, but God is also present in sadness. God can be seen in the lessons learned from heartbreaking loss. God can be seen in illness and He can be seen in friendship. His presence can be seen in disaster but only to those willing to see it.

Christmas is a celebration of faith. Proudly display yours!

 

 

SEEING JESUS

I’m sure you’ve heard stories before of Jesus being seen in varying circumstances. You may have even heard the story I’m about to re-tell (with a bit of good old fashioned creative license) before. Once again, cliché stories take on magical meaning when told against the backdrop of Christmas!

In 1962, there was a young preacher travelling through the Midwest at Christmas time. The preacher was single and he was leaving his job in Indianapolis to go to his family home in Michigan. Anyone who has ever spent any time in the Midwest this time of year knows that the weather conditions can get downright nasty. It was one of those days. Blowing snow racing along the surface of the interstate like an advancing army; a painful bite to the wind, and temperatures so cold it makes breathing a task. There was ice in spots, but it didn’t stop the young preacher from racing down the virtually traffic free interstate in his Corvette.

Several hours into his trip the preacher saw a soldier standing under an overpass with his government issue cap pulled down over his head as tightly as it would go. His hands were shoved deep into his pockets as he weathered the howling winds and the fine powder of old snow it carried in it’s momentum. His large, stereotypical duffel bag, stuffed as full as physically possible, stood at rigid attention beside him.

The preacher, travelling much faster than he should have been considering the road conditions, sped past the soldier. As he did, he noticed the young man jerk one of his hands out of his pocket and extend his thumb. The preacher gave little thought to altering his course for this stranger. Not because he was a mean man, but simply because he was driving a two-seater and the seat not caressing his own derriere was piled high with gifts and clothes for his Christmas vacation in Michigan.  The trunk of a Corvette is just big enough for two pints of Ben & Jerry’s Half Baked Ice Cream (I suggest you go ahead buy three though. Eat one on the way home! IT’s THAT good!) so it wouldn’t prove to be much help even if he did want to stop and pick up this inconvenient stranger. He whipped past the shivering, camouflaged soldier and tried to put his blossoming guilt out of his mind before it grew.

He was unsuccessful in those attempts. The Christian in him simply wouldn’t allow him to leave a fellow human being out in the cold like that…..especially a soldier…..at CHRISTMAS! He was a preacher for heaven’s sake! He did a u-turn after about five miles of begrudging inner negotiations, and hoped the whole way back to the bridge that someone else had stopped and picked up the Army-cicle. No such luck. He stood there in the same position he had been on the first pass only now he looked more forlorn and miserable than before.  His eyes were closed as if the cold had begun to shut down the nonessential functions of his body.The preacher pulled up as the soldier opened his eyes and walked excitedly to his car. The poor man’s teeth were chattering. Thick collections of ice could be seen in his eyelashes and eyebrows as he approached as quickly as his frozen, often dragging feet would allow.

The grateful soldier was determined but proud. When the preacher began to explain the limited space, the soldier never accepted defeat. The preacher pulled away from that bridge having stuffed the soldier into the passenger seat, his duffel bag between his legs, and all of the clothes and presents in his lap. The poor man couldn’t see out of any windows and boxes slid around in his lap, but never once did he complain. Feeling began to return to his extremities, and with it came his voice.

He explained that he was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. “Didn’t I see you go by a little while ago? Not many Corvettes out today, kind of sticks out in my head.”

“Yes, that was me?” the preacher replied.

“You mean you turned around and came back?” The astonished soldier inquired. “Why would you do that?”

“I was raised in a home where helping others was always viewed as a gift that was never to be squandered. Plus, I’m a Christian minister. Leaving you out there in the cold just wouldn’t be right. I didn’t really think you would fit in the car, so I thought I could offer my assistance without having to actually do anything to be honest, but apparently God saw through that little ploy.” The preacher explained. “Honestly, if I wasn’t a Christian I’d probably still be racing along without a second thought whatsoever. Jesus guides me to do some things that I simply wouldn’t consider without Him.”

The soldier was silent. He just stared at the preacher for several minutes before he spoke. Even if he had been able to see out any of the windows around him, he probably would have stared at the young minister just the same. When he finally spoke it was with the shaky chords of a man using every mental weapon in his arsenal to fight back the tearful emotions attempting to seize control of him. “You have no idea how that convicts me.” he said in a shaky but confident tone. “I’m no Christian, sir. My wife is a Christian and she’s just about the greatest woman alive. She takes our kids to Church every Sunday despite my constant encouragement to just stay home with me instead. A few weeks ago, I was turned down for holiday leave because I got drunk and caused some trouble on post. I was sick about it. When another solider found out his parents were coming to spend the Holidays with some nearby relatives, he offered to relieve me of my duties so that I could get home. I had already loaned my care to another platoon-mate, and I had spent all my money on these gifts I was going to ship home to my wife and kids.” he patted his duffel bag. “I decided to start hitchhiking. My family doesn’t even know I’m coming home.”

The preacher, who had been a little put-off by the inconvenience this stranger was causing him, was now completely enthralled.

“I had been standing out there under that overpass for three and a half hours and it occurred to me that some of those passing cars had to have been carrying Christians, right? I began to get kind of bitter about it until I started to accept the fact that if I were them, I wouldn’t have stopped either. I wouldn’t have even considered it. In fact.I might have tried to splash me if I was one of the drivers! Anyway, I got so cold, so lonely, and so desperate that I began to pray. I’ve never really done it before but I’ve heard my wife say ‘just have a conversation with Him’ so many times that I just started to talk to God. I prayed that he would please send someone to help me and you want to know the embarrassing part……you showed up as soon as I opened my eyes from that prayer.”

The preacher made no attempts to hide the tears flowing freely down his cheeks. “I wasn’t going to come back but your image just wouldn’t leave my brain. Everything I preach would have been discredited if I had left you there.”

The pair of now familiar strangers pulled up to the soldier’s much missed home and sat in the driveway. The preacher honked his horn as instructed and a few moments later the front door opened just a crack. A curious child could be seen peering through the frosted glass, only able to see a car in the driveway, not it’s inhabitants. Finally, the soldier stepped out of the car and yelled toward the house “Hey, Buddy! Daddy came home for Christmas!”

Before the shakily joyous words escaped his lungs, the door swung open and a woman in a bathrobe and house slippers came bursting out into the snow covered yard. It was dark but the joyful tears could be seen flowing down her cheeks as she embraced her husband and let her emotions flow freely. The soldier hugged all three of his kids several times as tears of his own flowed more freely than the preacher had ever seen on the face of a man before.The wife and the kids thanked the preacher and explained that they had been praying for the last week that Christmas would somehow deliver “their daddy.”

That young preacher was given a lesson that he would never be able to teach a congregation. He was able to see firsthand the work of God. He was able to acknowledge the power of God in his own life and admitted that Jesus is truly in control. We can’t all rescue a soldier from frostbite in 1962, but we can all witness the power of God in our homes this Christmas. Spread it around and do your part to keep that Faith going year round.

Wow! Am I the only one that believes Madison somehow got his hands on an advance copy of the Liberal Mission Statement? That quote, albeit in a distant, formal version of the English we now speak, sounds like a conversation between Barrack Obama and Santa Claus, doesn’t it? Like a wish-list for the left? Think about what James Madison was actually saying. Think about the times in which these words were spoken, and the forethought that must have gone into such a train of thought. Now think about the world in which we all now live. Is it much different from the fears Madison illustrated in this quote?

Make no mistake about it, Barrack HUSSEIN Obama wants a “standing Army”. He illustrated this point with all the tireless work he put into winning that Nobel Peace Prize after all. Liberals love to spread and twist truth so that origins of their ‘facts’ can never actually be traced, but the bigger truth is often terrifying. Sure there are hundreds of well photographed, well publicized events where good old Mohammobama can be seen with a stoic, absurdly rehearsed look across his face as someone else honors the sacrifice and courage of the military. He and his overworked image consultants make sure that there are plenty of moments to point to and say ‘see….we love those guys” but in reality, their policies and actions say differently. Since day one, Obama has sought to pull all troops out of the Middle East. Our domestic interests have been set aside in order to coddle those who want us eradicated. Imagine a world where Barrackula was free to do as he pleased without fear of lost votes or approval ratings. If he were just a neighb0or of yours, you would have had him committed a long, long time ago yet here he sits, staring down his nose and us and treating the Constitution like a piece of wind-blown debris. A standing army does not mean an army with nowhere to go. A standing army is one whose faith in their leaders has crumbled. A standing army is one who feels as though the commitment they have made to defending their country is not being matched by the men who ask them to do so. A standing army is one who feels unappreciated by a leader who would lose hundreds of millions of dollars to Solyndra and then turn around and demand that money be taken away from those who have fought for this country. A standing army is one who feels that their leader is no longer fit to lead. Standing does not necessarily mean being still. Our soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines are much too good for the complete lack of executive level leadership they have been given over the last 3 years. It is unfair of us to expect a fighting force to defend a leader who would see them insulted in favor of his fundraising cronies.

An enslaved press? Are you kidding me? Did you ever think you would miss the days when Bill Clinton used to get all red-cheeked and lie to us while the press applauded his courage? The Obamanator is a creation of the press and it does not appear that they are going to let go of their pride and joy without a fight. Barrack HUSSEIN Obama’s entire presidency has been centered around what makes him “look good” or what actions will “improve his approval ratings.” The media loves this guy and he is everything they need him to be. Idiot who obeys orders – check! Obsessed with himself and his reputation – check! Ability to talk condescendingly to those who dare oppose him – check! There is absolutely no doubt that the left controls the press and any assertions to the contrary are, to put it lightly, hogwash! It’s not just our president either. It’s the liberal ideology that has unfortunately gripped our press, and media. Amnesty International, when started by Peter Benenson in 1961, set out to assist “prisoners of conscience” all over the planet. Their mission was to eliminate torture, ill-treatment, and in recent years, capital punishment. I personally subscribe to the “you harm or intend to harm my family or my kids; I get to harm you” mentality  but that’s a discussion for another time. Amnesty International is now trying to have former President Bush arrested in every African Country to which he travels. Active recruiting for protesting and general disruption during Bush’s visit to Tanzania and Zimbabwe are underway. Now, the beef Amnesty International has with Bush stems not from the horrific human rights violations taking place in the countries to which he is travelling. Those are handled by Bono and Brangelina. The crimes for which Bush is being so vehemently pursued are the water boarding of three al Qaeda operatives in Guantanamo Bay. The men being held in Guantanamo Bay are treated better than they would EVER be treated in their own countries, period. We do not behead our prisoners. We do not castrate them. If our tactics offend your sensitive emotions, then maybe you should sit this jihad out, pardner! If the picture to the left offends you, I apologize but it serves a purpose. The very men responsible for this horrific and unimaginable yet all too real scene are the ones being protected by the left. The pacifist laws and lifestyle we are now being asked to adopt are the laws that these men continue to use against us. Wake up and stop the illogical, childish view of the world. The men whose feelings we are so worried about hurting; whose religious freedoms we are so worried about disrupting……they’re the ones cutting our heads off. Stand up and stop it! These men do not care about the opinions of hippies and neither should we!

A disarmed populace? The left is too sleazy to take on gun rights head on. No, they are fighting this war on a subliminal level. Anytime a shooting takes place in such a manner as to gather public interest, the cookie cutter comparisons start to emerge almost instantly. “He had a gun, so he must be a conservative.” How is that any different than me saying “He shot someone, he must be black?” Guns are not the problem. Crackheads, gangsters, kids who think they are gangsters, and a society obsessed with reputation is the problem. In the case of Mr. Madison’s quote, however, I don’t believe “disarmed” referred to weapons at all. I believe in this instance “disarmed” means improperly informed. Liberals have long since tried to “disarm” us by making us believe that we’re destroying the sky by driving, and the earth by living. They disarm us by using weasel-ish connections to spread horribly sensationalized propaganda. Obama’s speeches seem more like a fundraising telethon than a Presidential address.Problems are created and miraculously can only be cured with more money. These problems didn’t exist yesterday, but now, all of a sudden we are in danger of losing the planet if we don’t bend to the will of The Great Obama. If Jimmy Swaggert is available to deliver the next State of the Union, it might be more convincing! An uninformed population is an unarmed population but a population armed with fictional information is even more dangerous.

Who do we target in our efforts to fix this problem? We waved bye-bye to our right to complain the second we allowed Jon Stewart to be recognized as a credible news source. We keep buying into the fear and the hype and eventually we’re left with a shell of what men like James Madison envisioned. A country is not just the land within a set of borders. When we go to war, we are not defending dirt and earth. When good men make the conscious decision to torture another human being, it is because torturing a violently zealous enemy keeps him from beheading innocent people and then hanging their headless corpse in the streets of their dusty city. A country is so much more than the land, the streets, and the people who sleep under it’s flag. A country is a set of ideals worth defending. A country is a collection of souls with the same common goals and vision. We were once within the scope of that definition. We can get there again. Stand up, slap your neighbor, tell him to wake up and fight for what’s right. It’s time!

Veteran’s Day

Last night I had the distinct privilege of attending a Veteran’s Day concert at Bernard Middle School here in St Louis. My stepdaughter, Ellie, is in the school choir. She was very excited about not only her first concert, but to be honoring what she already considers a very deserving segment of our society. The entire production was very well put together and the songs chosen were as respectful as they were enjoyable. The large group of veterans in attendance appeared to have a good time.

Ellie sang her heart out when called upon to do so. She even developed a little “southern Baptist head-bob” action I hadn’t seen before. The smile on her face throughout the presentation told me the nervousness she felt all day leading up to the concert vanished as she released the first note.

I also had several “teachable moments” with Aidan, my 6 year old son, throughout the evening.(Brace yourselves liberals; I’m about to talk about “traditional family values” and patriotism. Seek shelter.) Aidan has always been fascinated with the military in all it’s glorious forms. Of course, his knowledge thus far has been limited to the things he’s seen in Transformers movies,  and anything covering the topic of SuperHeroes. He’s also keenly aware of the fact his “Pop-Pop” (my Dad) was a pilot in the Air Force. Jets are just about the coolest thing imaginable to a boy Aidan’s age, so the fact that his grandpa flew one makes for fantastic street cred in First Grade circles. During last night’s presentation, Sergeant First Class David Keefer, in full dress blues, spoke in his distinctly Army tone with his distinctly Army humor. His jokes were clean, his words were clear, his presence was commanding, and his message was sincere. Aidan was mesmerized.

SFC Keefer brought up a good point during his opening address. It is his opinion that “before one can lead this country, one must have fought for this country.” While I certainly agree with the sentiments behind that statement, I understand the reality of the world in which we live would never allow such a restriction to be enforced. Can you imagine the ACLUrection the liberal side of our legal system would be sporting of we attempted to pass such a law? No, SFC Keefer; your heart’s in the right place, but I think the best we can hope for is that we vote for someone in the next election who can, at a bare minimum, prove that he’s from this country.

Every year, on Veteran’s Day, I read articles, hear news stories, and listen to DJ’s on the radio saying  to “thank a vet today.” While the idea of thanking a vet is always there, I must say that I’ve never come out and done it in words. I have worked closely with the Armed Forces in my career, and will always feel a higher sense of commitment to the traditions, values, and community of the military than most. Today, I would like to thank the important people in my life that have served honorably and voluntarily.

“ Grant to our armed forces that disciplined valor and mutual confidence which insures success in war. Let me not mourn for the men who have died fighting, but rather let me be glad that such heroes have lived. If it be my lot to die, let me do so with courage and honor in a manner which will bring the greatest harm to the enemy, and please, oh Lord, protect and guide those I shall leave behind. Give us the victory, Lord.”  - General George S. Patton

Dad – Your service to our country in a time when such noble pursuits were openly opposed by hippies, easily fooled’s, and Jane Fonda has always been a source of inspiration. One of my earliest memories is of our backyard in Big Spring; sitting in the grass and imagining every jet flying overhead was you. The flight pattern was such that a turn was generally made just over the house, and I naturally assumed that was you waving your wings at me from above. (Facts like you sitting in the living room watching a Cowboys game at the time didn’t matter. EVERY plane was you!) Your continued dedication to all things military during your 35 year career after the Air Force didn’t go unnoticed either. Thank you.

Tater – Army may have been kind of an “escape plan” at the time you enlisted, but your service made you the man you are today. Without the  disciplined lifestyle and the structure of military life, I think we can all agree you’d be a wandering idiot! You voluntarily entered the military at a time when our President was bombing anybody capable of deflecting attention from the fact he was diddling fat-chicks. You spent time away from your family, your freedoms, and your security so that we could enjoy all three. Thank you.

Ted & Karen –  You are two of the greatest people I know and your children are going to have a drive for success that only the military could have instilled in your family. Your love of Philadelphia sports is the reason you get no pictures next to your acknowledgement! Bad Flucks! Thank you.

Bill – Your time in Somalia and the personal stories you have shared with me about the experience have served as more inspiration than you will ever know. Thank you.

Barry – Six years as a POW and you are one of the best patriots I know. While I may not always agree with your fashion choices, your status as a hero was solidified long ago. Thank you. 

Chad – Your self-discipline and commitment to values (minus the Chinook-ing) came at a time in my life when such things would have otherwise been easily abandoned. Your military service formed you. The fact you came out of the Army with as many of your values intact as you did is more impressive to me than anything else you will ever do. Thank you.

These are just a few of the people from my life deserving of thanks on this special day. There are many, many more, but these are the ones I think of most often when I try to teach my son a lesson of courage, or when I need a shot of inspiration myself.

To all of the men and women who have ever worn the uniform of our military; to all those who have shed blood, sweat, and friends so that we may sleep comfortably back home; to those who define courage as an intense will to live backed by a readiness to die; and to those of you who will be called “veterans” when your current commitment comes to an end – THANK YOU!!
